This game is ESRB Rated M for Mature. Parental discretion is advised.

If you love westerns like I do, then you probably couldn’t help but be interested in Rockstar’s new project, Red Dead Redemption. I stated in the past that I wouldn’t get the game simply because of it’s Grand Theft Auto ties, but after a bit more research, I felt I could give it a try. I’ll share with you some of my first impressions. I’ll try to keep it spoiler free. If you don’t mind spoilers, check out the first two hours of the game that I streamed live:

This Is Apple's Next iPhone - Iphone 4 - Gizmodo

Hey, I gotta ask.

Gizmodo broke the story today that they “obtained” a prototype iPhone which was “reported lost” from a bar. Well, they quoted the following in their story:

It has been reported lost

Apple-connected John Gruber—from Daring Fireball—says that Apple has indeed lost a prototype iPhone and they want it back:

So I called around, and I now believe this is an actual unit from Apple — a unit Apple is very interested in getting back.

Obviously someone found it, and here it is.

Well, the problem is, John Gruber never said it was lost, he said it was missing or possibly stolen:

Note that I did not use the word “lost”. It is my understanding that Apple considers this unit stolen, not lost. And as for the “someone(s)” who “found” it, I believe it is disingenuous for Gizmodo to play coy, as though they don’t know who the someones are.

Is Gizmodo pimping a stolen iPhone? What do you think?

twitterchirp on Justin.tv

At Twitter’s developer conference, Chirp, they announced a new (or old) feature that has caught my interest: User streams. This new API will allow developers to stream twitter activity to end-users in real-time. This was demonstrated at the conference using the web version of Twitter and TweetDeck. As activity occured in the web browser, TweetDeck updated automatically without polling or refreshing.

Seems cool right?

I thought so too since Twitter neutered real-time tracking a while ago and I thought it was back. Then they did a quick segment on the “firehose” and kind of glossed over it. This segment mentioned partners like Microsoft, Google, and Yahoo, but said nothing about how it could possibly tie to this User Stream API.

I got to wondering: Is the User Stream API using the firehose or some sub-set of it? Hmmmm.

At any rate, the technology does look good from the demo, but as with anything Twitter, I will wait and see the final implementation before making a judgement call. You can continue to watch Chirp live on http://justin.tv/twitterchirp.

Update: Added a video of the demonstration at Chirp for you all to enjoy!

You may remember Google announcing a new version of Google Docs a few days ago. Now anyone can opt-in to these new features under the Google Docs Settings:

Google Docs - Settings

Let me know what you guys think about the new version!

Pixelmator

Released today.

Personally, I’m loving my Core i7 desktop here so I know you Macbook Pro users out there will enjoy the performance boost. I think it’s also insane that they’re actually allowing 512GB SSD drive upgrades for a mere $1,300!! What a bargain! *cough* Yeah, SSD is still too expensive for my tastes.

Configure - Apple Store (U.S.)

I’ll be in the market for a new Mac in 2011. I have a strict 5 year policy on my machines. I purchased my original Macbook Pro in 2006 and won’t get another Mac until Feb 2011. Hopefully I’ll be able to afford a Mac Pro by that time.

Buzz - Stuff

It’s no secret that I’m on Google Buzz more than any other social network lately. So I was happy to see the announcement by Google:

We’ve seen lots of people using Google Buzz to share interesting links from around the web. To do so, you had to copy and paste the link from one browser window to another — there weren’t buttons that made it easy to post to Google Buzz without leaving the site you’re on. Savvy sites like Mashable and TechCrunch quickly got creative and implemented their own Buzz buttons, using Google Reader as the backend. But not every site owner should have to hack together their own version of these buttons (and not everyone who uses Buzz also uses Reader), so this morning we’re making copy-and-paste Buzz buttons available for anyone to use.

I’m updating my sites now to include this button and if you are a user of Google Buzz, I encourage you to share my posts to Buzz.

Get your Google Buzz buttons here.

You may have noticed that I haven’t blogged in a while. If you didn’t, then it’s true. My last blog post is from December 2009. That’s last year man! I’ve been lacking motivation to do new media all around. The only schedule I’ve been keeping up with is my audio podcast, Bwana.org Radio. My videos have decreased tremendously since I sold my Canon Powershot TX1 (no more closeup videos since). I tried an experiment with Story of the Day which got decent response, but I’m not sure if I want to continue with it.

I wouldn’t necessarily call it writer’s block. It’s more like content creator’s block. I’m in the process of evaluating if I should continue in the way things are or change things up to meet my new demands in life. Either way, something’s got to change.

It’s just deciding what.
