The purpose of this thread is to outline some of the rules and regulations regarding this server and what it's going to take for YOU to join.
Rules1.
Language. You guys know how I feel about cursing on the live stream. I'm very strict about it and I expect you guys to be mindful of your speech, no matter the topic.
2.
Stay on topic. It's easy to fall down the slippery slope of "Oh hey, I got Bwana on a voice line, let me ask him 10,000 questions". Let's not do that. If you happen to be in the same Mumble channel as me, please
do not flood me with questions.
With that said, don't treat this as an opportunity to become an internet star. Don't get on the mic, hog it, and give shout outs to pookie and jered and them. No thanks. Stay on topic folks.
3. If you are granted access to the Mumble server,
do not request the following: a game, access to a password protected room, admin access. If you do, you will be given
EXACTLY ONE WARNING. If you do it again, you won't be invited back to the server for as long as Bwana deems fit. We will have a forthcoming process for adding folks to rooms. Stay tuned.
4.
Do NOT join the server unless you have access rights to talk. You will know if you have rights to talk. We will send you a forum PM letting you know the information. We have very limited slots (25) and we do not need them occupied by idlers who are just there to be there.
5.
You must use a recognizable nickname/handle. We prefer you use your forum id/irc name for your Mumble name so we can know who you are.
AccessIn order to gain access to the Mumble server, you must meet this criteria. 1. You must be a regular in the chat AND at least a "
Padawan Learner" rank on the forum. This means that you are voiced in either geekshed OR justin.tv chat. You know if you are voiced, don't bother me/us asking if you are. [
Exceptions will be made for trusted regulars]
2. We will accept gamers on a very limited basis. This means that if I barely know you, I'm not going to let you on the Mumble server.
3. Access to the "Live Stream" channel on the Mumble server will be VERY limited. This gives you access to talk to the live stream viewers as if you were me. For now, this will be only given to administrators and highly trusted users.
Pre-requisitesIt is highly recommended to read up on Mumble at their site: http://mumble.sourceforge.net/FAQ
- OS: Windows (XP/Vista/7), Linux, Mac OS X
- A working microphone/headset setup. Do not play the sound through your speakers It is required you run the audio wizard and do it right! Please do not skip this step as it is used to configure sound levels that you can't adjust in the client.
- MUTE THE STREAM! OMG OMG OMG MUTE THE STREAM
- Must be approved to talk on the stream. We will let you know via PM on the forum
Donationscovax914 is awesome and all, but we don't want him paying for this thing forever. As such, we will start a chip-in widget to accept donations and set the goal of the widget to be the yearly price of the server. Look for details in the future.
