Many moons ago today, I was spawned into this dimension wondering what kind of madness I had been thrusted into. (literally) Alas, thirty some odd years later, here I am still wondering what is the deal with you humans. I’ve adapted in some ways, but I’m just passing through and will make the best of it.

Heh. Yes I am that crazy.

Anywho, my wife is celebrating this day of spawning alongside me and is preparing wonderful meat dishes and starches. She has used the magical rectangle square of credit to procure some wonderful toys for my enjoyment:

• eyeTV hybrid
• A marvelous cheesecake from the oven pits of the Cheesecake Factory.

As the first two items haven’t arrived yet (Friday and Thursday respectively), today will be filled with fanfare whilst we munch upon meat dishes and starches. The cheesecake will please me greatly. My human siblings have expressed their joy of my aging with various emails and cards. I am very fond of these particular humans and they understand my strange ways. In the immortal words of the poet dubbed “Ice Cube”, Today was a good day.

its true. the power is on and things are looking better. we stayed at the residence inn at aventura mall the past couple of nights. kecia and i went shopping over the weekend to get our minds off of things. it was a great feeling to come by the house this morning and see lights on. we still don’t have internet or directv service but who cares. those things are extremely minor in the grand scheme of things. kecia is out getting supplies to restock the fridge and i’m busy scheduling appointments to fix all the stuff around here.

things are finally starting to feel like they are returning to normal. gas station lines are down to 25-50 cars instead of 200, there are more traffic lights up now, and according to fpl, 2.2 million out of 3.2 million people have had their power restored. i’m praying that jorge gets his power back soon. november 22nd is a long ways away. this is definitely the worst storm i have ever experienced.

we still do not have power at our house in miramar, fl (in broward county). conditions are pretty sad down here right now as people are struggling to find gas and water. personally, i was waiting from 7am to 4pm for a gas truck to come to a gas station with power. the line was over 200 cars long. i finally gave up and went to another gas station and got my gas in about 2 to 3 hours. thats an entire day just looking for gas. kecia has been busy cleaning out all the spoiled food and getting the house up to par. we have reserved a hotel room for the next two weeks in case we don’t have power until fpl’s hard date of nov 22.

in short: it really sucks. for those of you trying to get in touch with us, we’re ok and we’re sane. we’re just without power and frustrated to no end regarding the gas/food/water situation.

we’re ok. broward county (where we live) really got pounded by this storm. kecia and i were up pretty much the entire time praying while the storm shook our house. right now, we are suffering like the rest of the county in regards to power outages, damage and debris. i just came back from a publix supermarket and it was pretty wild there. i managed to snag a couple gallons of water and some more non-perishables. florida power and light is predicting possibly weeks of repair time. not good for us, but we’re praying that we get our power restored sooner.

on a lighter note, the weather is gorgeous (high 50s to mid 70s) so not having air conditioning is not so bad. i’ve charged my laptop a bit in the car and am using my verizon evdo card for internet access. more updates (and pics) later.

kecia and i ventured out into the rain and caught “batman begins” starring some guy and that girl tom cruise is jumping on couches about. oh yeah, quigon jin was in it too. it was good and stuff. i liked the beginning because i’m a sucker for superhero origins. (the comic book geek in me) the end was a little weak in my opinion. his batman voice was inconsistent. sometimes he sounded mean and upset, while other times he sounded as if he had a frog in his throat. i found myself *ahem*’ng at the screen for him.

but by all means the funniest scene in the movie involves scarecrow and a horse and a tazer. that’s all i have to say about that. go see it.

yup, i’m still alive. it’s been a while since i’ve updated the site on anything but what else is new. here are some quick blurbs:

gadgets etc – with the move to the house, i got a high definition tv (review) along with adelphia digital cable. (had to say goodbye to speakeasy) so far, i really don’t like adelphia and am almost willing to spend the lucrative amount of money to get directv high definition here. most of my high def channels go in and out and their customer service sucks hands down. the internet is ok, but their tv service just sucks. ugh. i’m enjoying the high def life though

well that’s it for now. i’ll try to update more often, but hey i can’t promise anything.

so on sunday, mar 20, i celebrated my 31st birthday. my loving wife gave me a wonderful card as well as some amazing gifts:

• sony playstation portable – ok, i picked this one up but she would have had it been available on my birthday (review pending)
• the matrix online – fun mmorpg. now i have to cancel world of warcraft since 3 mmorpgs is just too much (ffxi, wow, and mxo)

so now, i have quite a few toys to play with and not enough time. weeeee!

well i’ve been sick over the past couple of weeks. again. it seems my earlier sickness was just the beginning of something ugly. the doctor diagnosed me with severe bronchitis and gave me some pills and an inhaler to clear my lungs. believe it or not, i’m back on the road with all this as i’ve missed about two weeks of work alltogether this year. so far, my energy has been real low (was falling asleep onsite yesterday) but my cough is getting better. guess i should have gotten that flu shot this year.

been in bed pretty much all week sick as a dog. kecia is taking care of me (God bless her). i need to recover in order to get back to work and also finalize our house searching…not necessarily in that order. drugs are kickin in again, time for my next 15 hour nap.

kecia’s mac mini is comfy and configured. i gave her a (very nice i might add) apple bluetooth keyboard and a logitech wireless (rf) mouse to go with it. i didn’t much care for apple’s bluetooth mouse (been a logitech fan since the dawn of time). i setup all the must have software on there (firefox, quicksilver, netnewswire, adium, etc.) i’ll post a review later.

the macmini arrived yesterday morning from fedex. i surprised kecia and gave it to her for her birthday (01/12). i’m pretty good at fooling her about stuff like that all this time she thought it was for me and geek pleasure and all along i was giving her her very first mac. i’ve almost finished setting it up and have taken a few photos of it. i’ll post them soon.
