Even though I don't have a PS3 yet or did not have a PS2, I honestly think that PS3 and Wii are both the futures of gaming. PS3 will do fine, they just need more killer exclusives and a huge library like PS2 and SONY needs to come up with more fun games such as what they did with Little Big Planet, etc. They need more games for younger audience too like how they had a huge library of PS2 games for all people who are into adventure, platformers (ex. Sly Cooper, they need more of these games for all ages). PS3 needs to have games that attract all audiences.

I understand that the PS3 is more expensive than the competition, but you get more for your money, there's no giant power pack, you don't have to bolt anything on the outside, it's quite an elegant solution (even if the comparisons to a George Foreman grill are fair) compared to the 360. It's quiet & unobtrusive. It is a fair comment that if you don't need all those extras the 360 looks better from a cash up front point of view, but that looks like a wheelie bin leashed to a breeze block.

The argument that Blu-Ray isn't worth it is stupid now, on a purely gaming front it holds more information, which can only be a good thing whichever way you cut it. Without that extra space games like Metal Gear Solid 4, & Killzone 2 (to name only 2) wouldn't have been possible in their current form.

There's shed loads of games out there for the PS3, exclusives & multiplatform. If I want to play Fable II, Gears of War 1 & 2, & the Halo games, I'll wait for them to come out on PC eventually. The same can't be said for MGS4, Killzone 2, Motorstorm:PR, Little Big Planet, Heavenly Sword, Gran Turismo, God of War, need I go on. Obviously, this is only of some use to you if you have a PC that you can game on, & don't mind sitting at a monitor to do so.

Reliability, now there's a sore point for 360 owners. Microsoft say they've now sorted this, but I got told by one of the staff at "Game" (UK Stores) a week or so back that they are still getting lots of faulty 360's back every day, including the Falcon & Jasper chipsets. Only immature fanboys would say that they would rather have a console they can't use than have one they can. The extended warranty only covers the RROD, & there's plenty of E74 & other errors out there waiting to kill a console. You can't logically argue in favour of a poorly designed piece of equipment. It's the highest failure rate of anything I've ever seen without a full recall being put in place.

Noise, as I mentioned above the PS3 is nice & quiet. I gather the 360 sounds like a ferrell cat chewing a brick when you put a disc in. 360 owners were really putting the boot in about HDD installs on the PS3, but they're singing the praises of installs on the 360, now it's on "their" console. Admittedly it's nice that it's an option on the 360 & not mandatory. Saying that Killzone 2 has no install, so it's obviously a development issue, & not a problem with the hardware (the software companies know that all PS3's have a HDD built in, why not take advantage of that?).

Controllers - I couldn't care less if they're on IR or bluetooth as long as they work, & which you prefer in your hand is personal preference.

Online - 360 owners say that Xbox Live is better than PSN, & they may be right. They also say "you get what you pay for", but in the same breath say the PS3 is too expensive. See your own logic.

I'm not suggesting that the 360 is a bad console, & no doubt has lots of good games, but the PS3 has taken a lot of bashing, & I'm fed up of 12 year old 360 owners telling me that I must be gay (how is that an insult anymore) & that I should suck some genetalia. From almost every angle I look at the PS3 has more going for it, & is worth every penny of the £300.00 it costs over here. Yes a price cut would sell more units, but it's not unreasonable as it stands now.

Rant over.

To those that say the PS3 has no games all I can do is laugh. Throughout 2008 it had more high scoring exclusives than the XBox 360. The multiplatform titles are also released for both the PS3 and XBox 360. The only thing the PS3 needs to be a bit more competitive is a price cut and it's coming around June of this year. So if you have the spare time look into Little Big Planet, Resistance 2, Metal Gear Solid 4, Killzone 2, Heavenly Sword, SOCOM:Confrontation, Gran Turismo 5:Prologue and Warhawk for exclusives. Multiplats, well take your pick.
