21 Feb 2008Sony has announced PhyreEngine which allows for cross platform (PC and PS3) development of game titles. Given that it supports DirectX as well as OpenGL, Sony is showing their commitment to cross platform development and is not closing doors to technologies that Microsoft leverages. Games such as DiRT, GripShfit and flOw were developed using PhyreEngine and only one of these titles is a PS3 exclusive. The future looks bright.
Oh yeah, it’s absolutely free.
