14 Aug 2007I stumbled upon a post on Mashable.com yesterday regarding yet another Twitter clone called Yappd. They claim to be a “visual Twitter” meaning one can attach photos to your updates. This is a feature that some Twitter addicts have been asking for, especially since you can attach media using MMS on your cell phone.
I signed up for Yappd yesterday and my first impressions were not that great. I began to “yapp” all of the things wrong with it which included: no public area and no rss. A few hours later, I returned to yappd to see if anyone I knew had joined and low and behold, they added both the features I complained about. I like responsive development. Will Yappd supplant Twitter? I seriously, seriously doubt it. I do believe this will light a tiny fire under Twitter’s buttock to add some new features. My yappd profile is here, and I have setup Twitterfeed to include my yappd updates on my Twitter stream.
