Gaming, Technology, Social Media, and Fun

25 Apr 2007If you’re wondering where I’ve been the past, oh, month, I’ve been fooling around with Chris Pirillo and his Live Internet Show experiment over on his blog. What this consists of is a bunch of people streaming live on their webcams using a service called Ustream.tv. This service is absolutely free, and works on Windows XP/Vista, Linux and of course, Mac OS X.
Chris has been brainstorming with the community on how to best implement this new idea. Think of it as “Call for Help” from the TechTV days, but with LIVE questions (via IRC) and LIVE answers. The technology allows us to use various streams from the community when Chris is not around.
I’ve contributed some ideas, made a little Dashboard widget, and am working on a Windows Vista gadget for this project. As a result, my blog and podcast have suffered tremendously due to my free time dedication to this project. So where do we go from here? It’s up to you really. Chris does a wonderful job of receiving feedback from the community and incorporating it into the project. For example, I threw together a simple mashup page in the early stages of the project and since then we’ve seen some great work by the community.
All in all, I think we’re on to something big here and I believe since it is community driven, it’ll be here to stay.
I’ll see you all online.
