Twaiku

In: web2.0

9 Apr 2007

Updated: Twaiku is now maintained here.

What do you get when you mashup a bunch of existing Twitter / Jaiku Quicksilver scripts? You get Twaiku! Twaiku is a mashup of the following existing scripts:

Twaiku allows you to simultaneously post to Twitter and Jaiku. The main improvement I’ve done is here is allow you to use Jaiku’s icon set with your posts. Check out the screenshots:

Twaiku posts to both

Download Twaiku v0.22
Download the Plazes version here.

  • Unzip the file and open the Applescript with Script Editor and save it as “~/Library/Application Support/Quicksilver/Actions/Twaiku” (Create folders as necessary)
  • Add your jaiku username and personal key (as the password) to the keychain using the name http://api.jaiku.com (you can get your personal key here)
  • Add your Twitter username and password to the keychain using the name http://twitter.com
  • Launch Quicksilver and hit “.”
  • Type in the text you want to say
  • Hit Tab
  • Type Twaiku
  • Hit Enter
  • Select a Jaiku icon
  • Click OK

Use this application at your own risk!! I’m not responsible for what happens next!!

Changelog
v0.22
– Code shuffle for more efficient icon drop downs (thanks pb30!)
– Added a growl notification for tweet and jaiku post.
v0.21
– Fixed Growl notifications. Stupid error on my part.
v0.2
– Added a prompt for which Jaiku Icon you wish to use in your post. Icon numbers obtained from “View Source” on Jaiku.com
v0.1
– Added variable to jaiku “presence.send” call to send a random icon
– The icons are numbered 301 to 350 (I assumed 350 was the highest since there are 50 icons on the website.

I accidentally broke the Growl part fooling around with settings, but I’ve fixed it in 0.21. Is it not posting or anything for you?

Hi Bwana. Excellent work on Twaiku.
I liked the Plazes support in Tijs’ script so I wedged it in there, works fine.
You can get the file at http://www.goodold.se/twaiku.php
It needs the Plazes keychain set as in Tijs’ version.

Kind regards,
Olof at Good Old.
