Hey Bwana,

I reside in N.Y. and have been looking for a smartphone that encompasses many of my on the go necesities as does the RIM Blackberry devices but in a better looking package. I have found the solution with this phone. I was not sure on if I should go with Cingulars' E62 or purchased an unlocked version of the E61??? However, after reading your blog you indicated that the E61 is a far superior phone to the watered down version of the E62...or at least I took it that way! Correct me if I'm wrong.

I wanted to know if there are operating software updates that I should consider installing once I have purchased the E61 which would enable it to be more compiant with a US based carrier like Cingular or T-Mobile? Also what 3rd party software would you recommend for US instant messenger programs that are comparable to the one that comes standard with the E62?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Thanks for the response.

You can get the theme from <a href="http://www.e-series.org/themes/macsytegra114804.sis" rel="nofollow">here</a>. It's called MacGraphite.

Hi there! :D

Very pragmatic review you wrote here :)
I'm enjoying Symbian myself for a long time now, and I'm pleased with it too. Actually I'm in the process of buying an E61.
One of the things I want to ask you is where did you get that nice looking black-ish theme that can be seen in the third screenshot? Can you give me a link?

Nice work, again.

Glad to hear you're enjoying the E61. I feel the same way.

I've not been able to locate the ruby .sis files myself. I downloaded the source but could not compile. When I mentioned it on the review, I saw the project at sourceforge, but did not see the note about the project being discontinued. I'm in the process of trying to track down some info about ruby on symbian.

Great review. Just acquired one myself after "losing" my i-Mate K-Jam. My experience with it was not great, so perhaps it was fate that I investigated other smartphones. My experience with the E61 has left me bonded to it. Simpler to use and more intuitively designed than the K-Jam and the Symbian OS rocks.

How is it possible to run Ruby on Symbian OS? There is a project, but where can we find the dowloads .sis files?

Would really like to see this working. screenshots ;)
