Fire!

What a way to start my memorial day weekend. I had gotten home early from work when I noticed fire trucks zooming past my window. I went outside to investigate and saw this:

There was a nasty brush fire about 2 houses over. I saw a bunch of people with water hoses and buckets of water trying to protect their home. Since my lawn is dry as a bone, I broke out my hose and began to water down my lawn. I’ve seen this way too many times during droughts, where ashes fly into someones dry yard and start another fire. I took a few pictures of the activity and posted some of them in this flickr photo set. The story was discussed on First Coast News’ website as well.
