ncsoft announces city of villians pricing

Date October 6, 2005

if you’ve been following my flickr stream, you’ll notice i’ve been playing city of heroes (coh) more lately. ncsoft is coming out with the “sequel” to city of heroes called city of villians (cov). over the past few months, there has been speculation about how ncsoft will address subscription pricing for those who have both. the reason for this speculation was that there was confusion is because this game (c0v) has been touted as an “expandalone” (expansion + standalone game). no one knew if ncsoft would charge you $50 for cov and then another $15 subscription fee on top of coh.

the good news is that an announcement has been made that there will be no extra subscription charge for having both games. so that means you can enjoy the goodness of coh and cov with one subscription fee. (of course, you still need to purchase both games). i am very happy with this announcement and will gladly support ncsoft from now on. they clearly listened to their user community for this decision and i believe they will be greatly rewarded for it. see you in cov when it’s released!
