tivo in trouble?

the new york times is reporting (registration required) that tivo may (once again) be in trouble. there’s talk that a blown deal with comcast may be one of the reasons why. as a supporter of tivo since the very very early days, i do not want to see this happen; however, there are many options out there today that weren’t there in the past.
